Shawn Kelly

Shawn's career has centered on financing and building growth stage companies. Previously, Shawn was with Austin Ventures, where he co-opened the firm's Dallas offices. During his tenure, the firm grew from $450 million to $3.0 billion of capital under management. Shawn invested in and was active with the Boards of twelve growth-stage businesses, including Service Intelligence (Acquired: Global Compliance), Spatial Wireless (NYSE: ALA) and VocalData (NASDAQ: TKLC). Shawn began his career in investment banking, with J.C. Bradford & Co. in Nashville, where he specialized in private equity and mergers & acquisitions.

Shawn earned a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Master in Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration with High Honors from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Shawn is an active member of the Lone Star Chapter of the Young Presidents' Organization. Shawn resides in Dallas, Texas.
Dan Shimer

Dan has over 40 years of experience operating, building and investing in growing businesses. Previously, Dan was a Venture Partner with Austin Ventures for over five years. Prior to 1996, Dan served as a founding shareholder and a Senior Executive of four highly successful companies in the technology (CoreStaff "CSTF"), service (Computerland "CPLD"), and distribution industries (FoxMeyer Drug "FXM", and Coast To Coast Hardware "CTC"). These companies each started out small, grew to over a billion dollars in revenues, and went public. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Shimer closed 58 acquisitions. In addition, he has closed numerous public and private offerings of both equity and debt in his career, including four IPO's.

A CPA, he began his career at KPMG Peat Marwick. Dan holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and attended the graduate schools of Loyola University and Stanford University. Dan resides in Dallas, Texas.

Ed’s  career has spanned a wide range of executive-level positions in marketing, finance, information technology, strategy, product and corporate development, and professional investing. Previously, Ed was Senior Vice President, New Products and Business Development for A. H. Belo Corporation where he focused on strategic investments in media and technology companies.  Ed was a General Partner at Austin Ventures where he focused on communications systems/software and semiconductor investments. His investment exits include Agere Systems, Sychip, Santera Systems, Navini Networks, NexGen, Ramp Networks and Raptor.

At Compaq, Ed held the position of Vice President and General Manager of the communications products division and co-founded the Compaq Venture Fund. Earlier in his career, he held a variety of engineering, marketing, strategy, and finance roles at Motorola Information Systems Group. Over his career, he brought over a dozen new products to market and acquired several companies totaling over $750 million.

Ed received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Massachusetts, holds an MBA from Northeastern University and completed the Compaq executive leadership program at Harvard University. 
Bharti Subramanian

Bharti has over 15 years of experience in marketing, technology, operations, and equity investing. She brings deep expertise in helping companies translate ideas into effective and successful strategies, products, and data-driven marketing programs. Before joining Teakwood Capital, Bharti was Founder and President of RISSI Group; a management consulting firm. At RISSI, Bharti helped AT&T launch Isis, a joint venture with Verizon and T-Mobile in the emerging field of mobile payments. She also helped AT&T refine their consumer acquisition and marketing strategy.

Prior to that, Bharti was an investment professional at Austin Ventures. At Austin Ventures, she invested in a number of technology companies and was an active board advisor. Previously, Bharti was a management consultant at McKinsey and Company where she advised companies on their strategy, marketing, and operations. She has also held executive roles in product management and technology at Nortel, Texas Instruments, Citicorp, and HP.

Bharti earned a Masters and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brown University and Bachelors in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. She currently resides in Dallas, Texas. 
Mike Taylor

Mike brings disciplined processes to the Teakwood family of companies for all their Executive Search and Coaching needs. These processes encompass executive recruiting, team assessment, gap analysis, mentoring, team building, and culture transformation. He has decades of experience within the BPO, Technology, and Software (SaaS) sectors. A partial list of Mike’s past clients include Technology Crossover Ventures, Austin Ventures, and Battery Ventures, in the private equity/venture capital realm, as well as companies such as SOURCECORP, BMC Software, Solarc, Samsung, Freescale Semiconductor, GENBAND and Academic Partnerships.

Prior to Teakwood, he helped open the Dallas office for Washington, D.C.-based executive search firm Cabot Consultants. Mike was an instrumental Partner for years in developing the Private Equity/Venture Capital practice for Heidrick & Struggles both in Austin and Dallas. Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, he was President of his own boutique search firm. His earlier corporate experience was with McKesson (HBO & Company), EDS and Schlumberger.

Mike graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. Mike resides in Dallas, Texas. 
Sam Barrett

Sam has over 12 years of experience in corporate development and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Teakwood, Sam was the Senior Counsel – Strategic Transactions at Flowserve Corporation (NYSE: FLS), where he led Flowserve’s corporate development process. He also served in operating, treasury, tax planning, SEC compliance, and corporate governance roles during his tenure.

Sam began his career in the Corporate/Securities group of various international law firms including Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr and Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, primarily focused on private equity and public and private M&A transactions.

Sam holds an undergraduate degree from Baylor University and earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University (he also attended William & Mary law school). He resides in Dallas, Texas.

She spent the last 10 years of her career creating and implementing sales strategies for DLA Piper, the largest law firm in the world. As one of their leading business development executives, Kim developed and maintained an extensive network of entrepreneurs, investors, service providers and executives in the technology industry. Previously, Kim also spent three years at the Lance Armstrong Foundation, implementing their corporate sponsorships through events

Bob has over 20 years of business experience, with CFO and COO leadership roles in venture capital, financial services, logistics and commercial construction across multiple industries. Prior to Teakwood, as CFO with Silver Creek Ventures, he was responsible for the operations, finance, accounting and administrative functions for their investment funds and worked closely with the financial operations groups of their portfolio companies to assist in budgeting, reporting, raising equity and bank related capital. Additionally, he participated in closing dozens of equity financings in both the Texas and Silicon Valley markets.

Bob earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M University and resides in Dallas, Texas.
Laura Kusching

Laura has twenty-five years of experience running the operations of middle market companies, including all accounting, human resources, customer service, general operations, and finance functions. Laura has experience in several different disciplines, including various service industries, import/export and property management. She handles all of the accounting and operations for Teakwood along with contributing to due diligence and portfolio-company support efforts.

Laura received her AA degree from College of Central Florida and resides in Murphy, Texas.

Rick has held numerous leadership roles in software, communications and technology companies, working with companies ranging from a few million to over a billion dollars in revenue. He also serves on the boards of Tangoe and PlumChoice. In addition, Rick is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

Prior to his role with Teakwood, Rick was CEO of Airclic, a provider of software and services that automate the mobile supply chain for transportation and distribution companies. During his tenure, Airclic became the recognized leader in the space, doubled its size, and quadrupled its valuation. Rick also served as Executive Chairman and CMO of Tangoe and was CEO of its predecessor company TRAQ Wireless. During his tenure as CEO at TRAQ and Executive Chairman at Tangoe, revenues grew from $5 million in 2005 to $70 million in 2009 and set the stage for an IPO in 2011. He is still active at Tangoe, serving on its Board of Directors. He has also served as CEO of Airband, President and COO of Broadwing Communications (now part of Level 3) and as President and COO of Cincinnati Bell. Earlier in his career, he held several executive positions at AT&T, MCI/Verizon and Sprint Nextel.

Rick is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia PA, where he received both his BS and MBA degrees. Rick resides in Austin, Texas.

Jim brings more than 25 years of executive leadership with extensive entrepreneurial and software technology experience. He is currently the President and CEO of Ignite Technologies, a leader in enterprise content delivery solutions. Jim also served as President and CEO of Calpont, a privately-held company that focuses on high-performance database solutions. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and CEO of MetaSolv Software, a leading global provider of operations support system solutions for communications service providers around the world. MetaSolv Software grew from three employees to more than 600 and went public in 1999 with revenues reaching $130 million in 2001.

Jim is the recipient of numerous honors including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Tech Titan Corporate CEO award from the Dallas Metroplex Technology Business Council. Before co-founding MetaSolv, Jim spent more than a decade in various positions at Texas Instruments.

Jim has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Arizona State University and resides in Dallas, Texas.

Kevin is an experienced leader with extensive software and technology industry background at both public and private companies and brings a deep understanding of the operational and financial issues faced by rapidly growing, global companies. Kevin currently serves on several boards, including that of Sourcefire, CallidusCloud and PHD Virtual. He also serves on the advisory board for Neebula, and previously served on the board of Quest Software (acquired by Dell).

Kevin Klausmeyer’s background includes service as Chief Financial Officer of several technology enterprises, including The Planet (merged with SoftLayer), RLX Technologies (acquired by Hewlett Packard) and PentaSafe Security Technologies (acquired by NetIQ). He also served as the Principal Financial Officer, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer for BMC Software, following 13 years of practice in public accounting. As a software finance professional, Kevin was one of the three industry representatives on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Software Revenue Recognition Task Force that interpreted and provided guidance to the software industry on the U.S. authoritative revenue accounting rules.

Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas with a BBA in Accounting and currently resides in Houston.
